good 408w cam?

Can anyone tell me what cam people are using for the 408's. I think the max lift on my RPM heads is .575. Can you change that? I'm looking for a good lope, almost radical.

Call any of the cam grinders and tell them what you have and what you want and they can tell you better than anybody what cam you need.

Don't pick a cam out of the mail order supplier catalogs.

I had good luck talking to CompCams. You can pretty much start describing what you want, what you already have, and they will take care of you on the spot.

The one I'm running in my 408 is what they call their XE282HR - good lope, will rat nice at 800 and actually sit there and knock out windows at 400.

It's a fun cam but may be too stiff for the RPM heads. Call CompCams.

I would go with a hydralic roller type cam with around .550 to .560 lift . Duration @ .050 should be around 230 to 235 intake and 244 on the exhaust. I would have the cam ground on a 110 lobe separation angle and install it at 108 intake center line. We have dynoed some of these engines, and that seems to work well for us. Hope this helps.
