Useless parts : 1974 351W
I've recently come into possession of a 1974 351W, 2bbl, from a school auto shop. Hardly run...mostly taken apart and put back together.
Anyway I stripped it down to the bare block and have it stored in a bag. My question is what parts do I throw away? What parts can I sell? heads, crank, etc? I will keep the block, timing cover and, I believe, little else. I'm cleaning out the garage and want to junk as much stuff as I can, including some of the 351 parts. Any answers out there? Thanks, Roscoe |
Roscoe,
I would think you might want to hang on to the crank and all the main caps as well and maybe the heads. Tuff decision. Clois |
Clois,
Thanks. I have the main caps on the block. If I was going to rebuild I am thinking of a stroker. Surely if I don't stroke it I'll keep the crank too. Heads I don't think I would use in any case. Do you know if they are worth anything? Roscoe |
Roscoe-
I agree with Clois. Keep the crank and maybe the rods too. I'd toss the 2v heads- I'm sure if you were ever to build the motor, you'd use aluminum heads. As to their value, probably not worth much. If you don't want to just toss them, you could always put them on ebay and sell them no reserve. But then again, what do I know**) |
