69 alternator/bracket on 351W
Is there any reason that I couldn't/shouldn't use 69 small block passenger side top mount alternator/brackets/pulleys on my 351W? In most pictures it looks like the whole setup is closer to the block for a cleaner look. But I don't know if the alternator is lower amperage or the belt size is narrower or some other disadvantage.

I'm trying to find out the same thing, from what I've found it's all dependent on how much room you have. I've got my remote oil cooler on the driver side and is just to tight. Jegs, Summit and Ford all have the brackets you need. Make sure if you go to a salvage yard to get the brackets that you don't get 289,302 brackets, they don't work.

Terry,
I talked to Barry at B&B and he said it is dependent on lining up the water pump pulley and the damper pulley. He said the alternator is easy because you can cut the spacer. I decided that I like the look, and it's cheaper than aluminum, so I bought the chromed steel set from PAWS, with passenger side alternator bracket. If I have to I will use spacers. This is vbelt of course, and is all for looks, since I already have serpentine style pulleys from salvage, and a flat belt is stronger. I should have it together in a couple of weeks, I'll let you know how it fits. |
