302 (im)balancing question
I'm building a 85-up hyd roller 302 from the ground up. The crank and rods are original but will be balanced as a rotating assembly. Since I'm replacing both flywheel and balancer/damper, could I go with the 28oz option vs the original 50oz?
What are the advantages/disadvantages? Thanks, 289FIA |
No, the '85-up 5.0 crankshaft is designed for 50 oz/in imbalance damper and flywheel. A good balance shop MIGHT be able to change it, at great expense, but WHY??
If you're looking at some other clutch assy besides the 10.5" diaphragm you can buy aftermarket flywheels with 50 oz balance that will accept several different clutches. Ed |
