Never had a problem with a Holley. Most out of the box are very close and they are easy to tune and set up as well as overhaul when the time comes.
Must admit have not played much with the Demons but kind of feel like they are an "attempt" to improve the Holley style of carbs.

What are the differences in cost and ease of set up.

Advantages from one to the other in set up?

Cheers

Bernie, the folks at BG will be the first to tell you that their carbs like lots of advance. I took delivery of my stroker with the Mighty Demon installed from the beginning. It seemed to be a bit rich so we reduced the jet sized on both primary and secondaries. It always seemed to run well (no hesitations, great idle, lots of power at WOT etc.) I finally took here in to a dyno tune shop where an additional 6 degrees if advance was added and the jets were returned to the values installed from the factory. Since the carbs are configured per the specifics of your engine and flow tested prior to shipment, they seem to get it pretty well "spot on" out of the box. Might need a little bit of distributor-twisting to get it all set up. Several of the local guys have yanked their Holleys and replaced them with Demon carbs. BG has a good name around here.

I've used both Holley & Demon. They are both great carbs but Demon has a competetive edge as it was designed to be a better "Holley" out of the box. For vintage looks I go with the Holley. Anything else I like the Demon. Performance wise the differences are minimal in the seat of the pants but as we all know in racing sometimes you can't feel a tenth of a second. That said there are a number of aftermarket Holley's that will stand up to or possibly exceed any Demon in side by side testing.

It's interesting to note that the same thread is going on over at the FFR forum with complete opposite results. Most over there favor the Holley while most here the BG. Don't know what the hell this means but curious anyway.

I love my BG.

Me too Roscoe! Terrible gas mileage but I love the performance of my BG Speed Demon. Pretty darn snappy.

Hi Clois

I have been using Holly HP's with no problems. I wanted to use the Demon line because they sure appear to be better but three differend engine builders that I respect all said that the Holley's make more power on engine dyno's.

Hope to se you at R&G in Sept.

John
