Project Plan Help - 302 vs 351

Hi Guys, just stumbled on this site and it looks like there's some good information and experts here, so I thought I'd try. ;)

I'm going to be building a project shortly. If it makes it into anything, it'll be a Fox, but I may just end up selling it, as it's mostly the building/learning experience I'm interested in. My goal is 350hp NA (FI), and I've set myself a budget of $4000.

I'd like more displacement than a 302. So my question is whether I should look at a 302 and do a 347 stroker, or just use a 351W block and stock-sized internals. (or, if there's a better option, please enlighen me ... ie, if a 393 stroker is only going to cost $150 more than a 347, then I might as well go for it....)

So what block would you recommend I start with? Any particular years/castings that are better than another? And why? Pros and cons to each?

Thanks.

302 cheaper on parts and more add ons, plus u already have the block, if 350 hp is your goal do a full exhaust headers muffler the works and dont skip the H pipe. rip off the air intake all the way to the mass air sensor and snub nose it with a cone K&N filter. spend about 400 bucks and put a gt 40 intake manifold on and youll be lil past your goal. know look you've only spent bout 1300 bucks. my 2 cents
