Jack21, I know what you mean. I was going to do that, since it's been done long ago, but have come to the conclusion that with all the hassle, it's better to go with aftermarket or GT-40's for better flow. Even if the price were the same, it'd still be a hassle from what I've been reading to install the 351 heads. I'm sure they'd work great, but it's easier to buy a complete set and bolt them on and not have to worry about matching everything. Thanks again!

For 347 stroker...
from someone running a 347 stroker. Spend your time and money wisely, buy a GOOD set of heads to begin with. It's the cheapest horsepower you can buy. And I have the heads you need FOR SALE. A brand NEW set of AFR aluminum heads still in the box, priced to sell, take a look: http://www.inficad.com/~moneymanager/partsforsale.htm Doc in Mesa, AZ |
I have a 1986 302 with bad heads and a set of good 1990 351w heads not concerned with extra power just a running motor for my sons truck, without extra out of pocket expenses will the 351 heads bolt directly onto the 302,I've been told yes but which intake and push rods to use?

Bolt the heads on and use the 302 intake and pushrods...........actually from around 1978 or so, the 302 and 351 used a "common" head, Ford did not make different heads from the 2 motors, they used the same head for both motors.........

1986 shortblock has flattop pistons. Be careful of piston to valve clearance. Don't ask me how I know. later dennis |
