Are you running a Kenne Bell blower?

I am going to install a Kenne Bell Blowzilla/Flowzilla 2.2 liter blower on my built 302 this winter. If anyone has a similar system, I would be interested to know how yours is setup. What components did you use??????...........ie: heads, cam, injectors, fuel pump, throttle body, mass air, computer chip, etc.
Also, if you have any dyno results you would like to share. Thanks in advance, Rob Burton |

 anyone???

I have a 1500 series KB on mine with a ported stock type lower manifold. Your 2200 set up with the GT40 lower will have a lot more potential than mine. Based upon many years of toying with my KB set up on a stock 302, then with heads and now with a completely built 331 here's what I would recommend. Aluminum heads( I have TFS Twisted Wedge). Lower compression (mine is at 8.4:1). Zero deck height on forged pistons that have a quench area that matches the head. Don't just use any old dished pistons. I am using a TFS Stage I roller cam and it works very well. Nice sounding idle at about 850rpm. Idle vacuum is at 10" Hg. The cam could easily be a little more radical without hurting driveability too much. I can drive the car in 5th at 35mph with no problems. That's roughly 1100rpm. The reasonj I chose this cam is because it only has a little over 0.500" lift and so works well with the stock valve springs in my heads and the stock Ford roller lifters. I am using a 70mm throttle body but that is a little on the small side for your set up. The 1500 series manifold is only cut for a 70mm opening. I would use at least 75mm or 80mm with your set up. I think the flowzilla has an 80mm opening. I have 42 lb injectors and they work very well. They should be good for about 600hp before they are maxed out. They are not too large for everyday driving either. Driveability is good. I use a single in tank 255 lph fuel pump. You may need to add a secondary in line 255 lph pump on your set up to maintain fuel pressure at high loads. You can add this later if you need to. I have an 80mm Pro-M MAF meter. This is a plastic meter that has a 360 degree circumferential metering slot. This is the best meter that I have ever used on my set up by far. I found that my KB set up needed a lot of tuning on the dyno. The air fuel ratio curve was way off. Also the timing for a KB can be quite different than for other types of supercharged set ups. With a little over 5psi of boost mine put 412ftlbs and 362hp to the tires. It is over 400ftlbs at the tires at only 2300rpm. It is very driveable and the torque is easy to modulate. I have run as quick as 11.71 in the 1/4 on street radials. (not drag radials). |

Thanks for the info Mike. Did you have a chip cut when dyno'ing or do you have a Tweecer setup?

I had an Autologic chip (EPROM) burnt by LaRoccas performance while my car was on their dyno. Being serious Mustang racers they really seemed to know what they were doing in getting the most out of my motor with the KB on it. The very next weekend I fried the clutch in the car due to the 80 ftlbs of extra torque they found. You're gonna love the torque curve on that KB when you get it on your car. |

What clutch did you go with as a replacement? I am going to replace my T5 with a T5Z world class, so I could upgrade the clutch at the same time.

I have the 2200 Blowzillia in my 95 GTS Mustang. I ran it initially on the stock block with the following combo.
Stock 302 Block AFR 165 Heads Cobra R/R Crower 15511 Cam 218/224 498/512 Pro-M77 Ported Cobra Lower 38# injectors FRPP shorty headers Superchip and dyno tune. Pulled 404 RWHP 430Tq ...I ran out of Fuel at 5500 I blew a head gasket at the track 2 weeks ago. I now have a Keith Craft 331 Sportsman Block, Scat crank and rods Ross pistons Girdled Kenne Bell 2200 18-20# boost Edelbrock Victor Jr 8.5 Comp. Custom FTI ground Cam Crane Gold RR Ported GT40 Lower 60# Injectors Pro-M80 75mm TB 255lph Pump T-rex pump MSD 6AL MSD Pro-Billet dist and blaster coil And a whole host of supporting Goodies. Tremac TKO Spec Stage III clutch Lakewood Bellhousing I hope to have it complete by early Jan. And on the Dyno for a tune. Expecting mid 500's If intersted let me know and I will update this thread as I complete the project over the next several weeks http://hometown.aol.com/mattz281le/i...ernew129-s.jpg http://hometown.aol.com/mattz281le/i...h%20headss.jpg |

 Matt,
Definately keep us informed on your build and dyno numbers. It looks like your throttle body and mass air will be the short-comings now. I decided to go with the Accufab 90mm throttle body and a 90mm mass air with 42# injectors and an aeromotive fuel system. |

I have a 302 with SVT aluminum heads and a Track Heat Stage 1 cam with fuel injection. I'm thinking of putting a supercharger on my 302. I'm leaning towards a Kenne Bell 2.1L "BlowZilla" but the guy who dyno'd my Cobra says he would go with a ProCharger centrifugal supercharger. I'd appreciate any words of wisdom you care to pass on before I take the plunge. |
