289 4brl heads
I have an 87 5.0 in my car now and a 1967 289 4brl motor in the corner of the garage. does anyone know if the 289 heads can be used on the 302.If so,would there be any advantage such as higher compression or larger valves.

dk;
the 289 heads will bolt on to your 302 block with no problems,not sure exactly what valves are in either head,I would get the casting number off the 302 heads and check in with your local ford parts guy and he should be able to tell you the valve size and combustion chamber cc's and then you could check the 289 heads and decide which are better.............My guess is with a little intake and exhaust cleaning up and a good vavle job the 289 heads may produce more power,likely will have a little more compression to boot...........I would take the 289 heads to a machine shop and have them checked out as heads that old could have been modified over the years.............

also the chambers in the 289 head are 53.2 cc and the 302 is more than likely 60-63cc so you will increase the comp by about 2.sTan
