Webers on a 351C
OK, 351C experts, since I can't put 2x4bbls on my C without spending a gadzillion dollars on a custom made manifold, I'm thinking about going the 4x48 weber route. Anyone run that setup on a C and if you do, how does it work for a street engine (i.e. throttle response, HP gain)?? THANKS!!!

There are 2x4 manifold for C"S. I dont recall who makes them, but Jamo had one on his old Butler. Do some more research. Check on the Pantera site, I forget the fellows name who knows everything about any equipment ever made for a C. But he frequently on that site.

Don't you think something like this (though they're out there for much lower prices :) ), or even a 3x2 version, also not particularly rare, would end up costing less than a weber intake and quartet of webers?
2x4 SBF intake You would also need this ~$250 adapter (would part AP-06C be your application?) from here: SBF intake adapters |
Sizzler: I don't see an adapter offered that allows a 351C with 4V heads to use a 302/289 intake:o(

Jim,
I will be with Robert on Saturday at Carlisle, I'm sure he still has his weber setup for the 351C from a previous engine. I will let him know you may be interested. Tout |
THANK YOU, my friend!!! I sent Robert an email this morning (THANKS for his email address). I am awaiting a response.

Jim,
I bought Jamo's "old Butler" and although, we're stroking and re-heading the engine and may (repeat, "may") be going to fuel injection, the manifold in question is, in fact, an Offenhauser(!) item. I am going to stroke the present 351C to either 393 or 408 ci, in order for the mill to "catch up" to the massive flow from the heads. Clevelands, as you no doubt know, were famous for high-revving, "late-waking" power. With modified aluminum "Aussie" 2V heads, etc., I, also may have to move to a different manifold. We'll see. But the present one is an Offenhauser. E-mail me in a bit, and I'll have mark #s for you---the engine-bits are in my friend's garage, awaiting reassembly. Four months off the road is enough!! E-mail adddress is douglassf@aol.com incapable of handling the massive |
I am thinking to adapt some motorcycle throttle bodies to my Triumph Stag V8, if I can concoct a suitable inlet manifold...

Just to set the record straight on the 2x4 cleveland intakes. The only 2x4 intakes that were ever produced for the 351C are tunnel rams. The only low profile one that I have seen (pictures of) was a single plane offy that had a 2x4 tunnel ram top welded on to it. It actually looked nice. There are some 3x2 intakes out there but the were ford experamental and are VERY expensive if you can even find one.
