It says on the site that it won't work with March Pulleys.. Anyone know why??

LMH 03-01-2006 06:52 PM

I have one but not installed yet. (haven't got to the engine part yet)
But looking at it, I can't see why it would interfere March or any other pulleys for that matter.

I can't see why it would either.. Here is a pic of the front of my motor.. Now if I can just choke down the $350 price tag.. Yikes..

Yeah, I think that price is pretty high. I happen to find mine used for a lot less.
You could build one from an old Thunderbird tank, adapted to a small block. I was looking at one last Christmas, adapted to the 90* thermostat housing like Summit sells. Had a short hose connecting the two.
I think those look really good too.

why does your fiberglass look like cedar

OhBuoy 03-06-2006 12:50 AM

They also say it will not work with a 302, anyone know why not???

kidcobra 03-06-2006 08:51 AM

I ordered one from Enzo and the tank is very nice I had it painted since I am not a flashy type. but they do send you the t-housing and gaskets. Word to the wise keep the hose and toss the t-housing in the trash! it is chrome and mine was bowed by at least 1/4 inch. I could slid a dinner knife under it and not touch anything. It rubbed the hood of my classic so I had to do some mods to the hood.
But all in all it is a good tank well built looks good. but in my eyes not worth 350.

Any thoughts on why this will not work with March Pulleys and why it will not work with a 302?

Jim Wintz 03-07-2006 04:46 AM

I mounting this tank on my 351W with March pulleys. The only issue I saw or had was with my alternator location. My pulley set up placed my alternator on the passenger side in the upper position by the cylinder head. This caused some issues with the radiator hose coming into the tank and with the belt tension rod running across the front of the tank. I was not able to mount my alternator in the lower position, below the cylinder, head like the one pictured earlier in this thread due to my remote oil filter being in the way. So I modified my pulley and relocated my alternator to the drivers side. Fits fine. You may see some clearance issues due to the cap being on the outside edge of the tank as the hood curves down in that area. I was very close on clearance with the hood, but I raised my engine 1" to increase ground clearance, if I would not have done this there would have been no clearance issues with the hood.

Bottom line only real issue I had with the March Pulleys and this tank (other then the price) was my alternator location.

your set up is the same as mine. I have the tank with the outlet on the driverside. Comes from the Rad into the tank. Works and looks real clean. I had to get two over flow tanks one for each little hose. The over flow one is normal but the other one by the rad hose you can either cap off or run into a over flow tank. If you are running the old Classic cooling system and getting a little WARM on hot summer days this tank will help keep it cool.
If you deside to get one make sure you get the tank is for the driver side.

I will post pics
