Default Clutch woes......help me out!

After I changed out my slave cylinder (again), my clutch has been working great. On my way back from Homecoming, the pedal started getting mushy again. While bleeding the system, I noticed that there is a "catch" near the end of the travel. I've got my hard pedal back, but it really concerns me that this catch developed, which I assume is in either my master or external slave. Is it normal for DOT 3 to turn a graphite color when it runs through the system? I can't believe that a system so simple can cause me this much grief!

Hay Tony, My car is at Southern right now with a clutch problem. I have a trailer now if you need to get it anywhere. Pat

Heat is what usually discolors the fluid. Sometimes breakdown of the rubber seals. A "catch" sounds like something made of metal. Maybe the lever needs some lubrication at its pivot point or where the adjusting rod contacts the end of the lever. Get uder the car and check the full movement while someone depresses the clutch pedal. Hold the lever while it is moving and you will "Feel" the catch.

Thanks Rick. I'm going to check it out closely as soon as I find someone to get in the driver's seat. It really feels weird. Pat, that's not a trailer, it's a C- 130. We could probably get both of our cars in there.
