Ford Engine Casting Numbers
Can anyone help me with the casting number of a 351w built in say 1970. I called an engine dealer in Texas and they gave me
D0AE-G Is this a complete casting number? They were not sure. I appreciate any help. |
You want the cast number of the block?

I think the "D" means 1970's and the "0" is the year. The number should be right above the starter.

I need the number for the block. I know that "c" stands for 60's and "D" stands for 70's. I also understand that the 0 stands for the year of the decade. I believe "AE" stands for automotive engine and "TE" stands for truck engine. I assume "G" stands for the factory where it was produced? Should their be any other numbers? You wouldn't believe the whole ridiculous reason I need this info but believe me it may make the difference in me keeping this car.

Dude, that's a 351 Cleveland....not a Windsor.
1970-1971, two bolt main. The G would be from a Comet or Montego. That cast number is complete. |

Soooo.....If I'm understanding correctly. A casting code 'C9AE' would be 1969. The rest of my casting code reads like this: [9AE 6015 AA 13 (I'm assuming the [ is actually suposed to be a C) 9J12 (these lower row of numbers were actually indented to the far right, under the 13) Any idea what all of the rest of the numbers mean. The 9J12 means that particular part's cast date is September 12, 1969 if I remember the codes correctly.
When you break down the C9AE 6015 AA 13, it means: C9AE - 1969 Ford Engine 6015 - Manufacturer Part Number AA - number of revisions...A means it was revised once, B twice...etc. 13 - I would assume this means what mold it was cast in. |
TW is that a block casting from a 351 windsor or a 351 cleveland?
Does 6015 indicate a 302 block? |

Iv got an old ford engine but I cant ID it mybe I can get some help. #D10E-6015-aa under that to the right is 1E27 these # dont show on any chart I have found.

You don't know what it is (302, 351, etc.) or you don't know what it came out of ?
