Crank Scrapers

Has anyone used the scrapers made by Ishihara-Johnson? The reason that I ask is that they used a couple of my engines as models for some of their units (not Ford engines), and gave me some samples. I even got one for the small block Ford that I have on the stand in the garage. If you used one, what do you think? Is it worth it to install these? They claim some pretty impressive results from this simple bolt on. Is it too good to be true?

I have heard and read on numerous occasions that a crank scraper and windage tray can be worth 20-25 hp on a street car, more on a race engine. However, I have no personal experience except on many many cars I have owned, they always feel noticably stronger when I run them a quart down from full.

See my old thread on this very topic: Read the reply from Kevin Johnson. He breaks it down.

I made my own scraper out of stainless for my 3.25" stroker. It took me about 20 hours.

Good luck, John
