Thanks for the reply, I did purchase a small block overflow tank from finishline, but it kinda looks like a muffler in front of my motor. I have seen some small block fords in kit car mag, that had custom fit big block overflow tanks to small block fords. I thought I would throw it out to this forum to see if anyone knew where they can be purchased, or is this something you have custom made.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, Let me know if you want to sell your "muffler". I too wanted the original look. I purchased 2 of the original tanks that looked perfect. I took them to be tested and they both leaked (even though there were no visible signs of leakage). The radiator place said they could repair the current leaks but they can't guarantee that they won't leak somewhere else because the other soldered joints are 40+ years old. I don't even want to mess with that kind of problem.

Mike, take a look at this site as this owner modified an original tank to fit a SBF!
Scroll down the page and find the expansion tank part!!

He also supplies really sweet valve cover adapters to mount BBF valve covers to a SBF!

I took a Dove cast aluminum overflow tank and modified it to fit a small block. I wanted to match the look of my valve covers and air filter which are also cast aluminum, plus I didn't want to get into the headache of the leaks associated (rightly or wrongly) with the brass units.

We cut the bottom off of the casting, (that was a gut-check!) and machined a new thermostat cover out of a piece of aluminum and welded the whole thing back up.

The Dove tank is pretty pricey; guessing $375+ and I'm not sure what a local machine shop would charge you to do the new thermostat cover, but I think I still have the print at home and would be happy to send it to you.

I'm very pleased with the result, other than having the occasional onlooker yapping at me that I'm trying to fool them into thinking I have a big block... there is a picture of the new bottom on the tank in my gallery.

Actually, I was thinking of doing another one for my 66 Mustang, but common sense keeps getting in the way.

Hello everyone , I went on ebay and got a bb over flow tank. I took it over to my local welder. Who is going to change the housing to fit a small block. Hope it looks and works great
