Your thoughts?

I have a B&B with a stock 302. engine only has 8K ran great and Dynoed at 250 at the rear. But want more power. I purchashed from Summit the following main items:
TFS-51400002 heads
TFS-51400510 roller rockers
TFS-51402000 cam stage 1
Edelbrock RPM endurashine

It had stock GT40 heads
B303 cam
Edelbrock Performer
Holly 600cfm Keeping the same carb

The two quickest and cheapest mods for more acceleration are nitrous and higher numerical rear gears. There is also a lot of power wasted in most side exhaust systems. Of course, dropping in a big block would help! :D :D

Good luck on your small block rebuild.

If you Dynoed at 250 at the rear with a stock 302 something was done to it. I have a 302 with alum elbroke 202 heads air gap intake , stage 2 trick flow cam and 650 holley and I have 275 at the rear wheels. ED

**) I think that carb is going to hold down your numbers@ the rear wheels**)

package deal

i think anything that has better meetering is going to help it run better to the top end of corse it all has to be a ballanced to work together right carb for the right cam and heads this isnt really something to guess at our engine builder spent a lot of time knowing us and what we were going to do with our car all this figuers in to the package:D

He did list GT 40 heads, cam, and edelbrock intake. Agreed far from the stock 225 hp at the flywheel.

BBRED302
What type of Hp are you looking for? What budget limits do you have in mind?

BBred302 03-08-2007 06:53 PM

I want about 325hp at rear with more torque going from 2-3 gear. I have the dyno test and she did 250 at the rear. Again she had 250hp with cast GT40 heads, edelbrock performer and ford B303 cam. I hope I get this...I think I should. One thing the carb and engine were built in 1993 had 8K miles so the carb is a little old but dam she ran good. But need more power.

I'm very far from being an expert; it's just a hobbie. I read a fair amount on this. It's been 30 yrs since I built a high performance engine, myself. My gut feel is that it's possible, but getting near the top end of what a 302 can do, without going radical.

If you call the manufacturer, they should be able to tell you what you will get. There are some guys around here with a pretty extensive data base with some desk top dyno software. One may see this and give you some numbers. Good luck.
