Z head ford racing 392
Anyone running the Z head ford racing 392?
|
I have a set of Z304 heads, I bought bare, because I wanted to use bee hive springs. They were a nightmare to get all the correct parts for. Special longer stem valves, special long push rods and a lot of the Ford SVO numbers they said would fit would not. Since, I purchased them 2 years ago, SVO has introduced the Z304A head with bee hive springs. My suggestion would be buy only a complete head. Also, be aware of the push rod length. They make power as any 205 head will. I am runing a Comp roller 274 degree and it will go to 6700 RPM with no signs of valve float thanks to the bee hive springs and small retainers. This cam peaks out at about 6200 so more horsepower was there with the head not being a limiting factor. AFR's really need a strong spring pacakage to see these RPM's and I am not sure they can go that high without going to solid rollers.

I am running these (z304) heads. They work great. They are taller than other heads, so the geometry for my undercar exhaust was tricky though.

Sorry I meant the crate engine. Thanks for the replies. Seems like a nice package.
