surge tank
Is it neccesary to have a surge tank on your engines cooling system? I don't have one currently but have heard I should install one. can I get some advise on this issue? Also how are they installed.

I have always had to have one to allow for the expansion of fluid. I bought mine from Summit.

No it is not manditory. However the fill point must be the highest point in the cooling system.
