rod side clearance

I installed my rods and pistons today, as I found out the side clearance of the scat rods with a stock crank (302) is only about 0.011".

How much is recommended? Rev limit will be ~6700RPM.

Thanks,

Simon

Well different people will tell you different things. Most engine books will tell you to stay between .010-.020", but I like to see them around .015-.016".

I am running .022 per pair.

I assume too much might cause less problems than too little.

Could only 0.010" of clearance per pair cause problems with overheating thrust faces on the rods? Or is it more the lack of oil sprayed on the cylinder walls that doesn't permit such tight clearances?
