Timing cover on 351
I had to replace the seal on my timing cover where the crank exits.. Is it possible to put the timing cover back on without dropping the pan or is it advisable to drop the oil pan first.

Drop the pan. How did you get it off without dropping the pan?
make sure to seal the cover to the block well. Pressure test the collant system after you have assembled the engine. :D |
All I did was remove the 4 pan bolts in front and lift it out. Peice of cake.. Putting it back, not so much..

Hmmm...The front lip of the cover should be covered by the front curved part of the oil pan.
Make sure to use RTV at the corners. :D :D |
Hmmm.. Not on this pan.. It's a milodon race pan.. I dropped it from the car and the timing cover is back on. I put the dampner on first to center the timing cover right.. ?
