Weird place for an oil leak....

Or is it..

Every time I think I have all of the gremlins gone I get a new one..

This one is oil collecting on top of the timing cover of my 351 just below the dizzy in a little puddle.. Suggestions as to where that might coming from?? I clean it up, it comes back. I tried tracing the source but no dice.. Is it possible its seeping up through the timing cover like texas tea...

Oil runs downhill,check the dizzy!

Check the two short upper bolts that secure the timing cover to the block,I find these have a tendency to come loose over time and allow oil to get past the gasket, not sure why but often wonder if its a combo of fuel pump eccentric & pump vibration. A 'nordlock' washer on each should prevent it if this is the problem.

I've had the front intake manifold/block seal right behind the dis. leak and cause that same thing. Did you use the cork gasket or a bead of silicone?

All of the above -if no luck, dye with black light.

There's a new tool available for finding oil leaks. It injects a petroleum based smoke into the engine. Where the smoke comes out is also where the oil comes out. Takes about 15 minutes to find the leak. Find a shop that has one of these, and pay whatever they're asking. It will save you hours of work.

New tool? I thought Lucas invented something like that years ago. Where the smoke comes out is where the wires leak... :D
