Engine selection, Roush 427SR?

I am in the process of selecting an engine for my Cobra. My last engine was a Ford Motor Sports 392W (430HP, 450 Torque). I am considering getting the Roush 427SR. It is the same as the 427R only with a different cam and a dual plane intake (520HP, 520 Torque). It makes its power in the lower RPM range.
If you have this engine please let me know if you are happy with it and if you consider it to be streetable.

Switching from the 392 to the 427sb will put a big grin on your face. It is night and day difference. I put 34000 miles on a 392 FMS stroker before I blew it road racing and replaced it with a a Roush 427R with a dual plane intake (not SR). I have since put about 10000 mile on the Roush. I do not think you need to move to the SR from the R in order to get good street manners, just get a dual plane intake. I love the 427R. I will say that I hate the vacuum secondary Holleys that Roush uses. I had a mechanical double pumper custom built for my motor by AED and spent about 2 hours on the dyno fine tuning it at their shop. Spent $900 on the carb and tuning process and worth every penny. That is the only change I have made to the 427R. One half tap on the gas pedal, turn the key and it fires right off every time. It has an aggressive nasty sounding idle at 1200 rpm, yet will still accelerate smoothly off idle with no dead spots. It makes gobs of power down low, and screams right up to 6200 rpm where I have the rev limiter set. I am currently running 11:50s @ 125 at the strip in full street dress.

CobraK, the SPF subdealer in Houston (Vintage) is using this SR engine for new installs. It is really a torque monster and is super quick on the street. I think it is a good choice and is probably more streetable than the R version due to the cam.

Just my 2 cents

CobraK,
I just put the 427SR in #2482 and only have around 600 miles on it, but love it! The amount of low end torque is unreal.

I went with the 402SR with TW Cam. Plenty of power (486 HP / 490 Torque) and runs great at low RPM.
