I use the basic Cloyes Tru-Roller setup. No billet, nothing shiny - you cannot see it anyways. The normal Cloyes combo has proven accurate and reliable - better than most of the real pretty parts I have seen.

I like the Ford Racing sets for the Ford stuff that I do. The crank gears have a gazillion keyways in them and some of the sets come with new thrust plates. Very reasonably priced too.
For the Chevy stuff, I go to Walmart or Big Lots....:p

Roller Chains are fine , unless you have a hole in your pocket.
Gear Drive is obnoxious.

Hi,Just wondering if anyone has ever drilled out the plug of a camshaft oil gallery to lube the distributor gear,and double roller timing chain? The .040" size is what we were told works well....I think it would be enough of a leak to cause a drop in oil pressure,and would really like to talk to someone with knowledge and experience before this project is on the dyno.

the bbc oil lifter oil galleies both have a plug with a small hole--bleeds off trapped air from system AND lubes timing chain/gears--
I have been putting this type plug in many oil gallies to lube dist gears, timing chains/gears, etc

Been doing this myself for years, but I never drill larger than a .020 hole, no noticable drop in oil pressure and you get a nice .020 stream of oil shooting on the backside of the timing gear splashing oil all over the timing gear/chain for lubrication..........
As stated, chevy has been doing this for years, so it must be of some use.........
