Fuel line size for a 289

I am getting ready to make and install a stainless steel fuel line for my car but am unsure of what size to make it. I was planning on making it 3/8" ID but that will mean close to a 1/2" OD and that will be a bit tough to work with and bend. Could I get away with using a 5/16" ID line since it will have a fairly smooth bore? The engine is a mild 4bbl 289 and I am not planning (at this point anyway) on going to a firebreather in the future, so it seems the 5/16may be adequate. It would certainly be much easier to work with if it will supply enough fuel.
Thanks,
Jay

I dunno about your request specifically, but I do know that Top Fuel Dragsters have a 2" diameter fuel line.

I have a 302ci 600cfm carb and a manual fuel pump with 5/16" fuel
line works great!
Good Luck

fuel line

3/8" steel line is easy to bend with your hands/thumbs. The 5/16" will supply your 289 with enough fuel. IMHO

Thanks for the input guys and it looks like 5/16 will probably be adequate and in stainless form that would be much easier to work with. Just to make sure, all of the dimensions stated above were ID correct? CobraEd, If I decide to go drag racing I guess I can always use one of the 3" frame tubes as a Fuel line. I'll just have to figure out how to attach it to the gas tank. Hmm, now that I think about it, why not drill a whole in the ends of the tube and run the fuel line through it? ;-)
