Noise reduction
in terms of noise, there is a great sound difference between Ford 302 and 351W (both idle and hi rpms) ?

Yes, there is. More cubes move more air.

It's the amount of squeeze and cam timing in an engine that makes noise. Thats why NASCAR engines with their 14 to 1 compression are so loud. There are other factors of course, like exhaust and header systems or intake silencing. Its not so much the size of the dog here, but the fight in the dog.
