Octane

Hello,
I've a 351W from Performance Engineering on my Cobra.

I live in Italy and I'm looking for the best gas type for this kind of engine that is no so popular in Europe...

The Shell V-Power seems to have 100 octane. What do you think ?

I would to use my car for street and regular drive (no track) and I'm looking for the best gas type in terms of engine regularity and cleaning.

thanks for your feedbacks.

I would think that would be fine, without knowing the compression ratio of the 351 its only guessing though,I wish I could get 100 octane at the pump here in the midwest it just makes the engine more responsive.hope this helps...WB3

A little more info would help all be able to give better advise. Do you know any of the engine spec's? What is the compression ratio or even what is the cranking pressure from a compression test? Do you have iron or aluminum heads and how big is the camshaft, does it lope hard or idle pretty smooth? What is the initial and total timing set at?

Some of the questions above will help get us closer to a educated guess and you may be able to even run a lower octane rating than the 100 RMS mentioned. If you are not an engine guy the cost of taking it to a shop to help answer or determine the needs of the engine would be repaid quickly in saved fuel costs or saved engine parts.

I could be wrong, but don't they have a deferent octane rating over there?
