Accusump & Oil Changes I have a 351W (Southern Automotive-Parham) with a 3 qt Accusump tank. My question is whether to drain the Accusump when doing an oil change or leave the oil in it. Secondly, if it is recommended to replace the oil in the sump, just how should this be done. I have an elecric valve on the Accusump unit. Thanks. |

boblyon1, I change mine every time since the oil came from the engine anyway.... The simplest way I know to do it is to turn on the Accusump when the car is to be drained. It should empty itself into the crankcase. I warm up the car beforehand leaving the Accusump on so it will drain more easily and completely. When refilling add three quarts to your regular capacity. Mine ends up taking a total of ten quarts including the filter; yours may be different. Crank the engine afterward with the Accusump switched on so it will refill and you should be good to go! Tom |
