Questions about World Products Mega blocks?
Anyone here have any input on their aluminum block Windsor stroker engines or shortblocks? I was looking at their 427 aluminum shortblock assembly.
Thanks! |
World Alu blocks
Hello.
These are mine experiences: - Order the block fully prepped or as complete short- block. Else you will have trouble finding the correct plugs etc. My prepped 302 showed cylinder honing well within tolerances and everything else was fine. - The engine mounts might cause trouble hitting the side of the block or the large plugs. I did som digging in the block with a grinder before I decided to make new mounts not hitting the block. (First pair of mounts were modified F150 302- mounts). - There are some small issues you might run into: Gotta have the dip in the front. Gotta grind the plug in the deck (it goes into the head!). Gotta find a plug for the oil-pressure take off hole at the "wrong" side of the block, etc. but nothing big. After using Edelbrock Vic Jrs with steel insertrs for all bolts, i was surprised to find NO insert in this aluminium block. Makes me wonder how many rebuilds the block will take before I'll have to put inserts in all the threaded holes..... It'll probably costs as much as e new block. Regards Rune |
