Engine Stumbling Issue
Cripe, now you all are going to make a mechanic out of me.......I promise I won't quit my day job, but it'll at least make me warry of that wonderful mechanic who might suggest I need a whole new transmission..... **)

I backed the initial timing down to 12 degrees (it was @ 18) and raised the fuel level in the secondary float bowl and the problem is much less pronounced. I have not driven it much because of the weather so I am not sure if that fixed it for good!
The QFT carb says that the float levels should be 3/4 up the sight glass. My rear bowl was only 1/3 way up until I moved it! |
email from my buddy
Dwight:
This is the same problem I had with the cobra. No one has mentioned the use of the vacuum gauge on the carb at idle. This is the best way to set the idle air/fuel mixture to either lean or richen it. Bumping his timing up to 40 degrees will definately hurt his power. I used the idle air/fuel mixture to get as much of the stumble out of it as possible. See ya. Mike |
