Oil Pan/Scatter Shield
Need some info on what oil pan and scatter shield to use on a 427 stroker(351w based).
|
I can tell you what I did and why. My block is bigger in some areas because it has 4-bolt mains. Canton and a few others make oil pans to fit this block but I went with a marine-style pan from Armandos that was about $100 lower priced and is lower in profile for the same capacity as the sump-type pans. If you're using a factory 351W block any good performance pan will work.
I went with the McLeod scatter shield because it supposedly doesn't need to be aligned, but time will tell. The Quick Time shield seems to be very popular lately but it wasn't available when I was buying parts. I hope this helps. At any rate, good luck with your build. Bill Stradtner |
