Cleveland style heads for the 4.125 bore blocks...
Noticed at the dragstrip, that the guys running the Dart blocks, are using the various Cleveland style heads. For street/strip use,up to 6000 RPM, are the power and torque gains that great over a 225 style TFS or AFR head?

Great question, . . . I have always wondered the same exact thing. Also, . . if the canted valve heads are that good like in the cleveland and the big block chevy, why do all the new LS chevy (Corvette) engines not use them. They use-in line valves with very tall narrow ports. ???????????????????

Part of the reason the LS heads 'look' so tall is the port enters the head at a steep angle so what you 'see' is not a true cross section area of the port, plus provision for the injector spray pattern is also made in the port casting at that point. |
