Milodon oil pans and gaskets
Does anyone know if the Milodon pans require the use of the Milodon gasket. I had one before and never a problem with oil dripping. Now I don't have one but instead have a stock gasket and it seems to leak a bit. the difference being the stock gasket is 4 pieces and cork. The Milodon was a 1 piece and rubber.

Don't know if it helps you but I have Milodon gaskets on an FE and like them better than FelPro composite. It's a quality gasket.

I personally have had success with the Felpro 1810 (two piece rubber impregnated pan seals with individual rubber end seals), with Black Permatex Ultra. I also put a small smear on the pan rail side for insurance and (knock on wood) never a leak. I suppose these are considered composite gaskets because they are not 100% rubber nor 100% cork. But they work well.

I may just go out and buy another milodon gasket but I have a hard time with the crazy price they get for it.

I've had my pan off three times in the last 18 months...trust me, I can now do this with my eyes closed. Felpro makes a good pan gasket.
EDIT: That reads weird...great gasket yet I removed my pan so many times.
1. Replaced crank and rod bearings when oil pressure started to dip
2. Failed fuel pump eccentric...#$&@#* major PITA for a $2.00 dowel pin
3. oil pan cracks needed rewelding

I previously had a Milodon Pan and used McCord High performance gaskets which had a metal washer at each stud hole intended to prevent the gasket from being compressed too thin. I never had any leakage. I late swiched to a one piece gasket that had a similar washer at each hole. I think it was made by Victor, or maybe Felpro, again...no leaks.

Yes Rick, I have experience with these Felcoid typre gaskets in GM apps and they work very well. I believe they make sets for Windsor/ Cleveland apps but not FE.
I think it's because FE's are one piece and SBF's are four piece gaskets.
