Why is it still required to sign in twice on this forum?

Good question. I thought that because I was a newbie, still can't add a funny quote to my signature, and this was a method used to discourage trolls.
Then I thought I had an equipment issue between laptop, iPad and desktop.
Then every once I awhile I sign in just once and bam, I'm in.
Is there a valid reason.

This signing in issue might or might not be still going on for most but what I've found is that before I go to the trouble of typing in my User Name and Password I just hit "Log in". Of course it just kicks me back to where I started but this greatly speeds up the process. I then enter my User Name and Password and hit Log in again and done.
Been doing this for some time on the one device that seems to always has an issue, company supplied laptop.

I click on "remember me" so don't have to log in often but, when I do, I have to log in twice.
