Posting Etiquette
Brent,
Is there a Posting Rules section? I searched for one without success. It would be nice to have one - I really don't want to sound like the Bad Cop when I go on one of my rants. |
Bob,
Now I'm curious.... Where do I go to find your "rants". |
I'm with you Bob
I have unknowningly broken the rules once or twice but since I don't know what they are..............
It would be nice if say one of the moderators came up with a basic list of what is expected. But, lets not kill the entertainment value by making this all to much PC:LOL: Rick |
Bob...
...a while back, I posted a list of "Forum Decorum" guidelines. It was not so much as a set of hard rules, but rather a 'calibration' http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...hlight=decorum |
I've always been curious as to what makes a post subject to deletion vs. closing.
For example, the "Who do you hate" poll was deleted, deservedly, but if a thread is so disagreeable as to lead to banning or closing, why is it left around? |
...as evidence.
No, seriously.. Brent's philosphy for the forum is one of open dialog and no censorship. As such, many times, things go a lot further than some would want... but the concept of self-moderation by the group at large is always in play. When a thread becomes a personal attack or hateful in general, it is either closed or deleted, based on a judgement call of content. Fortunately, those incidents are rare. Obscenities don't require much thought and are usually deleted. Certain posterior shots have been 'grandfathered' as acceptable, though.:p |
Computerworks, et al.
What I am concerned about are basic posting rules like: Post in the correct section. I can tolerate a newby, but by someone who's a veteran poster? Come on! Be as specific as possible in the subject header. Please! No "HELP!" subjects. You won't get a response from me. This is quite selfish on my part. With my limited time, I can't look at every post with an ambiguous title. IMHO, wasting peoples time is stealing, and my time is very valuable to me... |
What would be really nice is for the thread starter to have control over the entire thread and having the ability to delete a reply from another user. This would eliminate all chances of a thread going off course.
Catch ya later Ed |
