New to this forum

I am preparing to purchase a new Superformance MkIII. We've decided to get the Royal Blue w/white stripes, twin roll bars, hardtop and Roush 427IR engine. Transmission will be a Tremec 5 speed with .82 OD. I've read all the posts on this forum and picked-up on the urethane engine mounts, Mcleod bellhousing, fender liners and such. I'm retired military and after finally starting my dream job (charterboat owner operator) I am having to quit . A drunk driver collided with my truck flipping it several times, messing me up forever...so I'll definately be looking for headrests and harnesses. My wife is into the project and we will be taking the car to her homeland, Okinawa Japan. We would appreciate any inputs on upgrading the car since I don't know how much has changed in the newer versions. Also, if anyone has taken a car to Japan or has info PLEASE inform us, it would be super helpful.

John,

Welcome! If you're looking at a new SPF it should have all of the latest updates from the factory. A gentleman from New Zealand posted a link to article that included a picture of an SPF with small headrests that came from the factory (or you could change the seats out).

I don't know about the ins and outs of registering a car in Japan, but you should definitely check with the local agencies there to see if it's possible.

Update - Here's the thread with the link to the article with the pics of the SPF with the small headrests. The guy said that they scratched the paint, so maybe there's another solution.

Welcome captjohn

I spend 16 months in Okinawa in '67-'68. Long time ago.
Max speed was 30 mph back then. Lots of cabs. Lots of wrecks.
