Oil temp guage failure

SPF #968's oil temp gage quit working. No needle movement, even when I rattle the lead. The water temp needle wiggles when I rattle it's lead. Any suggestions? It's the stock Smith guage....... and no, I'm not going to replace it with a electric one. Are the gage's and leads connected, or detachable?

Thanks

the lead and the gauge are one piece. there is no fix other than get a new gauge or have yours repaired. call Nisonger Instruments. look at CC advertisers. a new one is 140.00 and to get yours repaired is 130.00.

Exactly as Calbullet said.
Replacements are you best option dollar for dollar.
Send me an email and I'll send you some information (pdf) on rerouting the temp sensor line.
FYI: The smallest electrical arc to the sensor line can make a microscopic hole that allows the gas inside to escape rendering the gauge dead. Extreme care in making bends too. kinks cause leaks too.

Thanks guys. That's what I was afraid of.

I'll order one from Hillbank.

Blas, I PM'd you my email. I did buy a electrical diagram from you last year.

I sent you the info...
All my Wiring Diagram purchaser info is on another computer...I'm currently mobile...but I remember getting you a copy...didn't you order the Wiring Diagram jigsaw puzzle too?
Ahhh...technology...ya got to love it...
