I know a half dozen local SPF owners, and no one has any issues with radiator leaks. You might want to buy a dye kit and infrared light to see if you can track down the root cause.

Double check the upper rad hose connection. You may want to double clamp the hose to rad spouts. Do not overtighten the clamps as too tight does NOT increase the seal. Sometimes if a hose is leaking all it takes is to remove it, clean the hose and the nipple and reinstall.
And when will the BDR guys jump into this thread and tell us how "Brand X" NEVER leaks and how fast Suzy Creamcheese's silver car is????

Maybe 2 or 3 times, I've had a tiny leak (just a penny-size drop) from the bottom left corner of the rad. Is this what you're noticing too? I'd also be interested in any tips.
Mind you, I have a bigger coolant problem that I'm gonna have resolved in the next couple weeks. The intake manifold gasket is leaking and the Finish Line expansion tank isn't well sealed to the engine, so I'm gonna replace them both.
How many of you have replaced your intake manifold gaskets too? Should I go with the steel-core gasket rather than the usual one? My 392 stroker (351W) would use either the Fel-Pro 1262-S (steel core) or 1262 (regular). Thanks for any tips.

Have car 2338, 4 years old. Developed a leak and pulled the radiator over the winter. Had a leak at both lower corners. I took it to a local radiator shop that works on all size and types of radiators. Most aluminum radiators they will just replace the core or complete rad. Because that was not an option they used an epoxy on all four corners. They did all four because they were sure that it would eventually leak there, that is were the stress is concentrated. Cost was $200 and no more leaks. Hope this helps.

I had a small leak, tightened the clamps and it was gone.

For a car that still thinks its British, mine doesnt leak. (surprising_ )
-- but I also know the guy who works on it. -- he is a nutcase about fit and finish.

Mark IV, still fiesty I see... Fine, I'll play along, we have special leak-proof BDR only radiators, you should order one from Cashburn. My friend with an SPF replaced the clamps and fixed his leak (yes, I have friends and yes, some have SPF or FFR's and we still talk to eachother)
My silver car is not that fast though, I don't have the "well built SMALL BLOCK FORD" that Tony Martin drove to set the low E.T. at Road America.

It's not preconceived that the radiator will leak on an SPF. I have owned three of them and none of them leaked until I took the hoses off. Double check clamps and hoses. My Jaguar XJS12 on the other hand didn't leak either. The big cat did however mark it's territory. Alot.........

SunDude-
By all means, use the steel core intake gasket! I can send you horrendous pictures of what the non-steel gaskets look like after only a few thousand miles. And don't delay with the intake gasket replacement. If coolant is leaking into the oil, your main bearings are at risk.

Reconfirming -- have been through about 20 SPFs in the bay area -- and yet have found a rad - leak.
Broke the brass drain plug once ( mine)
had intake gaskets keel over, had fit and finish issues with people goofing up with the top tank.
I blew out the heater core with a Stewart water pump, switched to an EDL --problem solved.

I'm having the gasket replaced this Wednesday (the first chance I could get an appointment at the shop), using the steel-core unit. Thanks for the advice.

I just fixed a leak coming from the overflow port on the expansion tank. The clamp just needed tightening and as you probably know, just fill the expansion tank half full of coolant.

You would be surprised how many people insist on "filling it to the brim" with coolant. Should be no higher than the internal baffle or halfway. More than that it's just gonna puke out or worse, expand enough to force past the clamps, etc.
