15 inch tire sizes
Just put a deposit on a SPF. It currently has 255/60 x 15 fronts and 275/60 x 15 rears. The dealer is willing to change tire sizes.
I see a lot of 295/50 x 15s in back.
Assume the 275/60 x 15s rears will make the car feel slightly more responsive and lively (especially in mild turns)?
Assume the 295/50 x 15s will grip slightly better in straight line?
Engine will be a KCR 408 street crate motor.

What brand of tires are on the car? Would you be switching to the same brand, but in a different size? Unfortunately, there aren't that many choices out there.
I like the look of the 295's in the back, but I'm not sure you're going to see a significant change in performance between the two.

I'm currently running the 295/50's and will be changing to the 275/60's. They just look a little better (taller). The 295's just look a tad too short.

Both sizes will be BFG radial T/As. I’m guessing nothing more than just decent handling & hookup.
I have 3 sets if tires, mounted on different rims for my supercharged Miata. Swapping back and forth gives me completely different handling characteristics. The fat, sticky tires are best for auto crossing, but the middle sized tires give me the best feel for carving the back roads.

Go with the Avon's, if you want to stick with a radial tire.

The Radial T/As are not a good tire for Cobras (some suggest they are downright dangerous--due to lack of traction). I suggest you consider upgrading your tires to Avons, Billboards, or drag radials (one of the best performance upgrades you can make to your car). |

Anything but BFGs. They last forever but they are not too sticky. They're not very round either.

I like the look of the 275/60/15 better then the 50 series. I have gone through 2 sets of BFG's and have also tried the Yokahama's. I would buy the YOKI's of the BFG's for the reasons already stated before. That being said...I am running 17's and the 15's are sitting in the garage.

I like the look of the Billboards, however, I found a fair amount of negative comments about them in the tire forum. Seems hit and miss on QC?

Rather than dwell on tire sizes, it is more important as to brand of tires. I switched my stock SFD for M/T street radials and went with 235's (smaller) in the front and 275/50's in the rear and completely changed my car. Could not believe the difference. The car handles completely predictable in the corners and sticks like glue. Even the steering feels better.
My stock Yoko's were as hard as a rock and even with 20# pressure, they are gone gone gone....
