Coming up on my 1-year anniversary...

So it's Canada Day up here in the great white north, and it's reminded me that I'm coming up on my first-year anniversary of Superformance ownership.

I bought my car on July 4th (does that date mean anything to you too?) and have been enjoying it every minute since.

Looking back at my original post last July, I would note that I still have my Miata too and have been making gradual upgrades to my Cobra. The car is running great and still draws tons of attention from people everywhere. I don't regret this purchase one tiny bit. :)

Oh, but I have: a new chrome expansion tank; new distributor cap, rotor and plug wires; new "Cobra" air cleaner and matching valve covers; and a new shifter boot.

Or did you mean my wife...? %/

You can always find a new wife. Not so easy with a Cobra you really love.:D

Got any pictures of the new look?

SunDude 07-05-2010 05:08 AM

The valve covers are back-ordered, so I'm only midway through the transformation. They should be IN in a couple weeks, and I'll post Before and After shots then. Can't wait...

trularin 07-05-2010 08:38 AM

Okay, one year.

How many miles?????

:D :D

SunDude 07-05-2010 10:44 AM

Fair question.

I've put close to 3,500 miles on it, which is pretty good considering I live in the second coldest capital city in the world (after Ulaanbaatar).

Before and after shots of my engine bay

Well FINALLY all the parts are in, and I've been able to complete my engine dress up project.

Here is how my engine bay looked BEFORE the transformation. Note the generic ball-milled air cleaner with crummy paper element, natural-finish aluminum Cobra valve covers, and plain expansion tank from Finish Line Accessories. Not a bad look, but not too exciting either.

And here's how my engine bay looks AFTER the transformation. Note the black crackle-finish Cobra air cleaner and pentroof valve covers from Ford Racing, the new K&N filter element, billet air cleaner nut, the original-style expansion tank from Superformance, and the new plug wires and distributor cap/rotor. You can't see it from this side, but I've also replaced the crappy black breather cap with a nice chrome "Ford Cobra" breather. I like it! :D

What do you guys think of the new look?

Adding photo of left side, with chromer breather cap.

Nice upgrade.

Sawdust 08-12-2010 07:45 AM

Sundude........ Looks awsome!!!

Blas 08-13-2010 06:45 AM

Your engine compartment looks great…Amazing what $1000 can do to dress things up in there....hahahaha
A few things I noticed from your photos…
You only have a single accelerator return spring, and the mounting bracket for the return spring looks to be mounted so that it imparts an angular force on the carb linkage. You might want to correct the bracket and add a second spring.
And unless I’m mistaken, you have what look to be a “JAZ” overflow tank, and it's mounted up-side down. It looks like the drain valve is on the top…Is that the little orange drain valve handle I see in the photo on the top? Unless the tank was modified somehow. I believe they make a recovery/return version of the tank but still looks like it's up-side down. Something to look into.

Very nice, amazing what a difference it makes.

Skip.

Silverback51 08-13-2010 11:48 AM

Now that she is all dressed up, you need to take her out someplace nice.:)
