Fuel system question?
What type fuel filter and fuel pump is on a Superformance Cobra? ( 392 Windsor) Are they installed at the factory or when the engine is installed? Thanks, Mark

The only thing that comes from the factory is the wiring for an electric fuel pump back by the rear axle and an aluminum fuel line up to the engine compartment. Your engine installer, if not you, would have to add the fuel pump ie; electric if thats what you want or a manual pump on the engine itself. 392 Windsor shouldn't need much as nice Holley black electric pump would work probably even the cheaper Holley blue would. If you start getting into higher HP motors then higher volume pump is needed and most put a bigger fuel line also.

New Superformance rollers come from the factory with an inline fuel filter mounted at the rear axle area nearby the wiring loom for wiring in a electric fuel pump. Saying this, an electric fuel pump is by no means your only option. I'm running a higher volume (110 GPH?), mechanical fuel pump mounted on the block, that I purchased at Summit Auto and have had no problems on my 408W.

Agreed, the stock superformance filter is just a 5/16 gas filter, - you dont need an Electric pump. --

mine was a 5/16 line with a volkswagen fuel filter... you have to pull all that garbage out and completely replumb the fuel system... the stock line is not even big enough for a return line.
if you go with the stock stuff, you are limited to about 350 rwhp, and if your motor wants more you'll burn pistons.
also, if you want to drive the car, the stock tank pickup will starve unless full in any corner... especially if you fuel inject the car.
you need to pull the tank and either put a cell in or cut it and put proper reservoirs in.
the car was just not designed to be raced. they are nice, but nice show cars.

I've got 440 RWHP with the stock lines, filter and mechanical pump. Have not had a problem on the road coarse or drag strip. |

Mine has the 3/8 lines no problems on road course or drag strip.

All fine here too. Stock lines, Aeromotive fuel pump, pressure regulator - 650 hp - no problems. |
