SPF vs CCX
Hi,
I have two contemporary cobra kits unfinished. The first one is a torsion suspension I have had for 15yrs, life happens hence not done. I'm back....in searching for parts I purchased another kit unfinished coil over with watts linkage. Didn't need the kit, what I wanted was the drivetrain sitting on the floor. Times have changed, SPF seems to be the best of the best. So is the SPF a much better car? or just different? Not trying to ceate a debat, just some insite because it seams I can purchase a SPF reasonably. Over all probably alot less than to build my CCX. I do understand the joy of the build, I just have to many other projects and it's very appealing to just have it done! I have three very cool, in my opinion, 427fe's, crash box toploader, richmond 5spd, combos sitting just waiting to be dropped in. Probabley the tunnel port and 5spd. Do I just sell the darn kit's, one for sure, it could get me close to SPF? On the other hand, 2nd gen CCX is still pretty cool. I just don't think I want to spend the time. What do you think? I 'm leaning hard to the SPF. Maybe I will get lucky and find one less the drive train, or seller that will split it up. Thanks for any and all input Dazed and confused Daniel |
FYI: Check Cobra Country as there are two new cheap SPF rollers in Ca. Odd colors but ...

I'm a real CCX fan myself but I've also worked on the SPF's and they are well screwed together. Something to be said about a factory car. Did you see the quite bright (green)one for sale minus motor? That could be a deal. I can understand not being able to find the time to put one together but I would sure make myself a list of what I needed to put the coil over, watts CCX together as you obviously already have the big ticket items and that would make a sweet car. Some smokin deals on those around right now all together and running too. Side by side the CCX is alot more original appearing than the SPF to my eye.

Both those SPFs on Cobra Country have been marked as sold.

Personally speaking as someone who has owned both SPF and CCX, I prefer a factory built CCX, not only for the attention to the details (body shape, chassis main rails, aluminum substructure in the engine compartment just to name a few), but for the fit and finish (subtle differences that you have to look for, but are there)........
