I,(as the owner of a superformance mkiii),find this article very interesting.but i wish jim price would have went with his idea of switching the frame to a tubular round one,(it would have made it look a lot more original,(at least from underneath)!

But it is not original, and the setup Jimmy went with has provided suspension that currently out performs the 1960s system. The trade off of looks vs. performance/usefulness seems to be a good one to me.
The new Superformance MK II series (FIA/USRRC/Street) has all of the original type features, round tube frame, transverse leaf springs, etc. And it therefor replicates the performance and feel of the 1960 units. Are there designs that handle better? Yes. Are there more modern suspensions? For sure. Is is a 1964 Shelby Cobra? NO, and nothing other than a 1960s car is. Evrything else is a "tribute", "Replica", etc. Whatever tag you want to hang on it, it is not and never will be "original"! Original design? Yes, original car? No............... |
