I have a few leads so far with people that had damaged bodies/body shops etc that have a few early build Superformance pieces and parts. I just want to save the car and have one hell of a ride! Looking to go with a 66 427 center oiler with 390 Gt heads, a 428 CJ crank with a Factory Ford 427 intake with matching carbs, original Cobra air cleaner, linkages etc. The guy has the parts but getting him to part with it is the hard part. I got him to put a price on it, but I think with a little time he will do better, or at least I hope so.
The old body will come off in pieces, although we will be making sure we document what attaches where etc. As far as new vs. old styles, what changed body wise/chassis wise that new parts will not be compatible? Thanks again everybody for your input and links and places of interest, I've gotten lots of leads to search through but keep them coming! |

I am leaning towards that idea quite a bit. Afterall it is fiberglass and made to be fixed to a point. Replacement of the front shouldn't be too bad but the back is a little more involved. The trunk pan assembly if located will be probably a must. Most of it is there and could be saved I want to be as rigid as possible with it. Most of where the body is adhered to the inner interior tub is attached still and can be left alone it appears.
