Thermostat by pass hose

1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone have a part number, or vehicle application, for the by pass hose to use with the SPF expansion tank setup? I'm looking for a hose that would come off the straight fitting on the thermostat housing and curve back around to the water pump fitting without being kinked in half. It looks like the one in the attachment.

Sorry, no part number, but you can plumb it without using that bypass hose, as shown here: http://www.craigscobras.com/tips/bypass/
Maybe that's a good option for you?

I used a bunch of 90 degree fittings. It's out of sight and it works fine. It's not really a good idea to plug it.

I set mine up without the by-pass hose the way CWizard suggested using heater hoses and it works fine. I would like to convert to a stainless steel braided hose, but haven't done that because I think you need a special fitting coming out of the water pump to get around the thermostat housing. It would be great if someone knew where to get that fitting.

I built one as you described last fall. Works well, but the curved hose still seems stressed. Considering switching to the “Craig’s Cobra” configuration.

I’ll look in my maintenance log for the hose part number.

Small clarification: Changing the plumbing the way I suggested above, or more correctly, the way Craig's Cobras describes, does not plug or remove the bypass hose. It changes the configuration so that the bypass hose can have a large radius bend rather than the sharp bends in the original setup.

I found a hose at my local Kragen's that looked like and elongated "s" and was about 16 inched long. The bend in it allowed me to twist it and make the 90d turn without kinking the hose. I've since sold my SPF, but it worked perfectly for the two years it was installed.

Mine hose was pre bent in an s shape also, but much less than 16” long. It was a struggle to make the bend around the corner. It is working, but I can tell the hose is stressed to stay in place. A 16” hose should work better. Or better yet, bring it all the way up to the heater hose inlet as per the Craig's Cobras description.
