Is the hole in battery box supposed to be there?

As I was fooling around the underside of my Superformance Cobra today I noticed a hole in the battery box. The hole is located at the rear, inside, bottom corner of the box. The box is located behind the left tire with normal access through the trunk. I was going to just patch the hole, but I thought maybe there is a reason there is a hole there and I should ask someone smarter than me. The battery box is made out of fiberglass. Any suggestions what to plug it with? It is less than 1/8" in diameter.

Drainage, I suppect. If water gets in, you have to let it out.

It does not hurt to ventilate it either. I drilled a couple more in the cover.

Vent or drain depending on where it's located

Mine has a steel shank for battery support I suppose and it's elbow is exposed. Is everyone's the same? 209

The hole I am talking about looks more like a manufacturing thin spot in the corner than an intended hole. Exactly how is water getting into the battery box? Seems like it is most likely coming in through the hole I'm talking about. But if everyone has one, I guess I need one too.

it also can be for battery acid to drain from -- if you are dumb enough to have a lead-acid battery in your trunk. :)

Perhaps a photo of the offending hole?
