Yes unbolt the starter from the bell housing(engine side) and hang it out of the way with some wire ties, it isn't really needed to remove but, it makes space for the RR of the bell housing adn transmission. You do need to unbolt the bell housing from the trans and then lower it, be careful the bell housing weighs 70 lbs and the transmission almost as much. It is best to have three sets of hands or at least two sets and a trnsmission jack. The nose of the transmission will not clear the fly wheel with the bell housing attached. Make sure you have a supply of zip lock baggies and a sharpie to put the bolts for each step into and mark on the baggie what they are, size SAE or Metric. there are a lot of them with the bell housing, shifter, drive shaft etc. etc. and you want to keep them in order. Once you are going back together simply reverse the steps. Tony R. |
