Superformance Dash Removal

My Accusump quit working and I just noticed there are 2 wires free under the dash. The sump still has pressure. What is the best way to get at the Lucas switch to reconnect the wires? I am a big guy with big hands. Should I undo the dash? It appears to be connected with 4 screws, 2 at each end and 2 on the middle brace. Any suggestions?

Give me more info and/or a photo of the two loose wires before you remove the dash, it's a big job, and not something to do if not necessary on an older car. My contact info is below if you send a photo. FYI: There are a few unused wires under the dash.

I would try removing the speedo and/or the tach to gain better access to the wiring. They are held in with knurled nuts (2 per), and of course the speedo cable and wiring. The illumination lights just snap in the back of the gauges. Take the speedo cable off the reverser attached to the speedo.

If you can get your hands through those holes you should be able to get to the switches without removing the whole dash assembly.

Disconnect the battery first!

Better yet, check with Blas first!

He has more experience with SPF wiring than most :D

Taking the dash out is a real PITA! I wouldnt recomend it unless you must.
You have to flex the dash fairly hard to get it in and out and the wires are short so you usually end up knocking something off!

Why not unscrew the ring on the front of the switch and pull it thru from the back, If there are no wires hooked to it, hook them back up, check the function and resinstall.

If you need to get under the dash I have a couple suggestions.

1. remove the stearing wheel
2. Remove the seat
3. Remove the shifter handle.
4. Dont forget to unhook the battery so you dont get caught under the dash during an electrical fire like me !!

With those removed its a lot easier and it does not take long to remove them.
