Squeaky Steering
My car started squeaking when I turn the steering wheel. Sounds something like a squeaky door. Any ideas what that can be?

Does the steering wheel return to center easily after a turn? I would guess the adjustment screw on the rack is too tight or the ball joints need to be checked out.

i had a squeak in mine, a ford column, steering shaft was rubbing plate where it came through the firewall....silicon spray a couple times a driving season keeps mine at bay....

I would start by checking the 2 universal joints under the hood and the retaining clip at the end of the steering shaft housing. Then inspect the steering hub and its relationship to the turn dignal indicator housing. Sounds like something may be rubbing around the indicator assembly. Is it a rubber like squeek or a metal like squeey?

The horn brushes could be dry.

Grease the front end, tie rod ends, ball joints.

Jaydee, there is no horn installed on the steering column of a Superformance. But could be a contributing factor for a squeek on a different manufacturers column installation.

Anything new on this issue?
