Msd box ?
I have been told that MSD ignition boxes burn out RPM tachs any input ? I am putting a new L6 MSD box in, thank you Livnn.

If you mean RPM "brand" tachs them I'm afraid that I've never heard of them. If you mean tachometers in general then the answer is no, they won't burn out your tach when installed correctly. I've used them with a variety of cars and tachs for the better part of 30 years and never had a tach problem come from an MSD box.

40,000 miles on mine with the original RPM gauge and second MSD 6AL Box.

From what I’ve seen, the majority of the failures with MSD boxes (or any others for that matter) are usually related to installation issues, which include wiring connectors, electrical system voltage spikes, grounding issues, and condensation. Bad ignition switchs also contribute to ignition box failures.

Adapter....
Not sure about anyone else, but my installation using a MSD-6 Digital box uses a tach adapter (MSD Part number 8920) to drive the Smiths gauge. Works fine, and no issues.
The digital MSD box even does the gauge "Sweep" on start-up (will show you where the limiter is set), and that works fine through the adapter. I believe it's a 4 wire install (power/ground/tach in/tach out).
