Superformance Leather

I'm going to have custom headrests made over the winter. Should any good upholstery shop be able to find an exact (or extremely close) match for the leather. Is there any shop in Canada or the US who stocks this leather fabric?

A guy named Tony Revetti made me a center console for my Superformance. The leather he used was an excellent match for my interior. He even asked me how weathered my interior was, so he could match it.

Maybe he can help you. He might even be able to build or upholster the headreast for you. I'll try and dig up his email address.

zzmac - Just sent you an PM with Tony's contact info.

Rod, The factory has developed seats for the mk3 with headrests that are`nt just a blob on top but are crescent shaped. The problem you have with the leather is that the leather is not consistent thru all the years as the suppliers change batches slightly, so even if I get from the factory it could well differ. The other very important aspect is that because of the angle of the backrest the seat cant be used in the full rear position. Tape a dowel to the back and slide back the seat until the dowel touches the body and then still allow another inch forward and that is where the seat will be in the maxed back position.
Ross
My suggestion is new seats or possibly try Tony(?). Dont know if he will match without having one of your seats to do so.
I`m waiting for pics and pricing from the factory and if you are interested can pass them on to you.
Ross

These were mandatory for the Australian-shipped MKIII's. Don't have a pic handy but they were clean looking, too (really blended in and hardly noticable). You may want to work through an Australian distributor as an option.

The Superformance Seat Headrest Photo has been added to my Gallery since I can't seem to make it show up here in the post...

while this may not be right for you......i just had to repair the tops of my seats, my car is a 1979 with Connolly leather, this leather was unobtainium.
to keep the look of the same leather throughout, i had an upholsterer remove the leather from the back of the seat to repair the front and replace the back with the leather that was close but didn't match exactly.... hard to see the back of the seat when its installed so it was fine for me...

i was just in an airparts suplus warehouse, b & b airparts in gardner, ks, and they have whole leather pieces they sell pretty good pricing. and they sell a ****load of it. might be something to check out.

I've seen those Superformance headrests before but it's an expensive option when you have to change the seats too (and I'm not sure I like the look of them). I'm going to make my own and if they turn out ok I'll save a lot of money. I'll post pics when done over the winter.
